About the company: Door Systems Inc is a family-owned small business started in 1986 by Bryan Nicholas, CML. Bryan has used his expertise as a Certified Master Locksmith (CML), combining it with his knowledge of electronics, security systems, and the latest technology to build a business offering an innovative service to San Diego. Door Systems now works with some of the largest security system integrators in the area to develop, design, and implement state-of-the-art door security systems and to update existing systems. Door Systems has a diverse range of clients including: Hospitals, Bio-Tech, Department of Defense, Industrial, Class A Office Buildings, Critical Infrastructure, Security Integrators, and Government buildings. Position Summary: Our field technicians are the backbone of our business. They install, repair, service, and maintain of all major types of locks and electrified door hardware. This includes reswinging doors, retrofitting doors for new locksets and panic hardware. Technicians use company-provided fully stocked vehicles that they are expected to keep clean and organized. Technicians use cloud-based software and Excel/Numbers spreadsheets to keep records and communicate. This position is also responsible to help train and mentor those with less experience. We are willing to train the right candidate in some of the specifics as long as they meet the minimum qualifications.

Hours: Monday- Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm. Occasional overtime hours. On occasion, nonstandard business hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays (not major holidays).

Pay: DOE, $20-$40 per hour.

  • Experience in at least one of the following: locksmithing; electrified door hardware; door installation and service; or similar field.
  • Ability to use tools of the trade, including but not limited to: hand tools, power tools, hand drills, electric meter, grinders and wood chisels.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, such as repairing and adjusting mechanical hardware.
  • Strong electronic troubleshooting, such as reading and analyzing voltage and resistance.
  • Can learn, understand, and apply Life Safety, ADA and Fire Codes.
  • Ability to read and understand installations and wiring instructions, and follow safety protocols.
  • Minimum math skills required: measuring, and adding/subtracting fractions.
  • Ability to handle the physical workload and perform physical labor for extended periods of time: lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds, working in a kneeling position, carrying equipment from a truck to the job site.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must pass multiple background checks
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening, and randomized drug testing during employment
  • Current valid driver's license with clean DMV Record
